Popularity of PSP in Shanghai · May 29, 09:53 PM
In the Sony PSP vs Nintendo DS popularity contest in Shanghai, PSP is the outright winner. From my daily subway observations, of all passengers playing a portable gaming console, 9 out of 10 are holding a PSP.
Why is PSP trumping the DS here, while reports world wide tell us that either they are locking horns or DS is the clear winner in other regions?
1. PSP games are easier to pirate
2. Playing PSP saves face (I know, I used to be embarassed to play the GBA in public)
3. The mainland Chinese are head and shoulders above others, TV show suckers.
